Born and raised in Idaho I am no stranger to honky-tonk. And the moment I landed in Nashville I knew I had found my soul city. The people were friendly, the town was alive, and it wasn’t too big city for a small town girl like me. I tend to feel overwhelmed in places like Las Vegas, New York, or LA because of all the people and the huge city! Nashville delivers all that a big city has to offer without being all consuming.
Nashville is a place that anyone looking for a good time should visit now! If you love to sing, dance, and drink some whiskey, oh boy, pack your bags! Nashville has so much history and culture to offer, but you can read more about that in my post, 5 Museums to Visit in Nashville. This post is about the good ol’ fun and honky-tonk that you just don’t find in every city!
1. Live Music EVERYWHERE!!
I’m not even kidding. We got off the plane and as we were walking through the airport there was live music at the airport restaurants! And the moment you get onto Broadway (the main street of downtown Nashville) you have your choice of different live music at every bar and restaurant! And in the parts of town that there is not life music? There are speakers playing recorded music! I’ve never been to a city that just plays so much music from speakers on the side of the street. It makes walking around a blast!
2. Dancing 7 days per week!
One thing that I hate about my home town is that fun things only happen on weekends. So what are a bunch of girls in their 20s supposed to do when they want to dance the night away on a Wednesday?! Well, in Nashville you don’t have to worry about that. Because there is dancing, music, DJs, and fun every single night of the week all year! I couldn’t believe it when the best night of our trip was at a club on a SUNDAY! That just does not happen in Idaho.
3. Concerts Galore!
Live music from local bands is awesome! Don’t get me wrong, it might be my favorite mini event. But I need a good, big, live concert from time to time. And Nashville always has someone amazing playing! Seriously, I Googled it and like pretty much every day of the year there is a concert. We went to the Jack Daniels New Year’s Eve Nashville Party while we were there and it was a day long concert! We saw Brett Young, Judah and the Lion, Peter Frampton, Chris Janson, and KEITH URBAN!!! I was in 7thheaven. And seriously, everyone plays there! Not just country, not just rock, everyone!
If those 3 things don’t just call out to your soul, then we are very different people. Because I was drawn into this city and never wanted to leave! I already want to go back. Maybe for my bachelorette party? Stay tuned!
Always wanted to go visit Nashville! Heard a lot of good things about this city!
It is so wonderful! If you get the chance to visit I 100% recommend!
I’ve always wanted to visit Nashville–would you describe it as family friendly?
I haven’t been to Nashville in YEARS and this makes me want to get back so bad! I love how it’s a small “big” town and the vibes are just so down to earth! All of the live music makes my heart swoon! Ah, can’t wait to plan a trip!!
