Summer is here! Yay for warm weather, but what to do to keep your kids entertained!? My son is full of energy and needs A LOT of activity to truly wear him out on a summer day. Here is a list of some of my favorite summer activities for kids.
Swimming
Well this one is a no- brainer in the summer time. What a perfect way to cool down and wear out the kids! Not to mention work on the perfect golden summer tan! Hit the lake, beach or the local pool and don’t forget the sunscreen!
Zoo Trip
Zoo aren’t just for the littles! My husband and I always have just as much fun as our son every time we go! Food can be expensive on the inside so be sure to pack snacks and PLENTY of drinks. We love to use our cooler back pack like the one below. If you are in Oregon like me check out the Oregon Zoo in Portland, or The Wildlife Safari in Winston.
Picnic and Park Day
For an inexpensive day of fun, go to your local park and pack a lunch. Find one with a playground or somewhere with a big open field to play some sports! My son loves to play soccer or to chase our dogs around.
Bike Rides
No matter the age of your kids a bike ride is a great choice. Our son loved the trailer as a baby and has now graduated up to being pulled in an Xtracycle! Sometimes he wants to ride by himself and this is where the Strider balance bike comes into play. He has ridden this bike since he was a 1 1/2 years old and still going strong at almost 3! My son also loves to take his bike to the skate park! For the little ones try to go in the morning when the skatepark is a little less crowded.
Hiking
Hiking is a favorite family activity of ours. In Oregon there are more hikes than we could possibly do in one summer, but we are slowly checking them off our list. While our son can do some hiking on his own, when it gets steep we love to put him in our Osprey Hiking pack. You can cary a child up to 50 pounds and it comes with a sun canopy.
