Thanks in part to its iconic attractions, New York City manages to attract millions of visitors from both America and other parts of the world each year. Most people will admit that they dream of visiting here at least once. Some even return year in and year out to enjoy what this striking city has to offer.
If you’re a first time visitor, you’ll want to book any day trips or excursions before taking your first bite of the Big Apple. Anyone who’s been before will tell you that planning and booking up ahead of time is the only way to stay sane during a trip here. New York is, after all, hailed as the busiest city in the world. If you don’t get on top with pre-booking, then, your fun trip here could soon become a nightmare.
Lucky for you, resources like this event calendar for New York can show you exactly what’s going on during your stay. Thus, you’ll be able to book tickets for attractions well before boarding your plane. If you still aren’t convinced why you need to, read on to find out how booking ahead can help you.
It’ll enable you to make time for everything
If there’s one thing you need to know about New York, it’s that there is plenty to see while you’re there. From statues to Broadway, and everything in between. As such, operating on an ‘as you see it’ basis won’t work well for you. The simple fact is, if you want to see everything, you need to plan your days to the second. And, the best way to do that is by booking tickets ahead of time, and writing out exactly what you plan to do on each day. Though it may still be tight, proper time management can see you fitting in a whole load more to your trip. It’ll certainly save you wasting time wondering what to do next.
You’ll be able to skip the queues
Booking in advance also saves time in that it helps you skip queues. Aside from being faster, being able to stroll straight into attractions ensures you avoid stress. No one likes big queues, after all. If you’re stuck in them from one exhibit to the next, you’ll soon lose that relaxed vacation vibe. Instead, you’ll feel stressed out like every other tourist who didn’t think to book ahead.
You’ll be able to book central accommodation
Speaking of stress in New York; you’ll want to avoid the roads wherever possible. Driving in a crowded city is never a good idea. By booking your activities ahead of time, you can save yourself needing to go near a car. Instead, you should find you’re within walking distance of everything you planned to do. Obviously, there may be some instances where you need to get on the subway to reach things further afield. For the most part, holding off on accommodation until you’ve booked tickets for day trips should be enough to see you through.
I love reading posts about my hometown. It’s always interesting to see it from others perspective.

Love this, it’s so true. I can take the train in from NJ whenever but even after being to NYC hundreds of times I never go in without everything I want to do being booked.

This is a great idea in a city that’s as busy as NYC!
You are so right with this advice! When we visited the US from the UK, we had everything planned out to the day, but when we got to San Francisco we just winged it. I wish we’d planned it a bit better as we didn’t get to see many things. I’d love to visit NY!

We have done the same thing and I always wish we had a plan! Sometimes winging it can turn out really well but other times I feel like we miss out on too many fantastic sights.
