Travel is one of the greatest experiences we get to do. Not only do you have the freedom to travel to another country, explore stunning locations and experience new cultures, but it can bring people together and enable you to make some incredible memories. But of course, not all of us get to travel all day everyday, and often that is why a bucket list is created. A note for all the places you want to see in your lifetime, but have you thought about yours recently? Here are some of the destinations you may want to bump up the list and perhaps a few you may not want to prioritise. Let’s hope it gives you some travel inspiration.
The ones to bump up
First of all, let’s start with some of the destinations and countries you may want to bump up the list when it comes to the travel destinations you visit. We can often be blindsided by popular choices, however, some of these countries have a lot to offer. Whether you are looking for stunning locations, culture, or something a little different, at least one of these places will have you covered.
Brazil
Brazil can often be seen as one of the places on your bucket list that you might just get to one day, but it certainly should be considered as a more future priority. With the fabulous carnival season, Rio De Janeiro and the jaw-dropping Christ The Redeemer statue, it should be a destination to consider for your next holiday. It is definitely a location that has it all, iconic city and stunning beaches, what more could you want?
Indonesia
Indonesia is often overlooked as Thailand tends to top the bucket list destinations, but it should definitely be one that you consider bumping up your list. Bali is one of the iconic destinations and it can give some of the most beautiful beaches a run for their money. However, with lots of volcanic islands, hundreds of cultural influences, there really is a lot to enjoy. You can easily find yourself a place to stay, for example, sewa apartemen surabaya bulanan online. Indonesia really could give you the holiday of a lifetime.
Jordan
When you think of the Arabian dream, you might consider Israel as the top choice of country to visit, but Jordan can be giving Israel a run for its money and certainly should be one to consider. Not only do you have the archeological phenomnom that is Petra, there are also some hidden gems. Jordan really could be a diamond in the rough, and one to bump up the list for sure.
Germany
Often overlooked because of its European counterparts, Germany really could be a great contender for a holiday. Fantastic cities such as Berlin and Munich, and not to mention some of the fabulous events that happen such as Oktoberfest. If you like sausages and love trying different beers, then this festival is for you. Germany is one of the European countries that you might not ordinarily consider for a holiday, but you should.
Switzerland
Switzerland is a Central European country that possibly has it all. You have the fantastic Swizzled Alps where you can enjoy some of the mountainous villages and skiing opportunities. Then you also have the cities to enjoy that are full of culture and history, such as Geneva and Zurich. Switzerland has some amazing places to see and things to do, so it definitely should be one that you bump up the list when it comes to your bucket list.
Iceland
Iceland is a great location, and if you go at the right time, you could catch the Northern Lights in their full splendour. With Iceland’s bustling city of Rejovich, is definitely a contender to be bumped up your list for a holiday. With some great bars and restaurants and boutique hotels, as well as the chance to go exploring in the mountainous regions this place has a lot to offer. Finally, a swim in the blue lagoon is an absolute must.
Canada
Finally, one of the last countries that you should really bump up the list when it comes to your bucket list happens to be Canada. There are some great locations to consider. For starters, you have the cities of Toronto and Vancouver. Two of the most popular places in Canada. You then have other things you can do such as enjoying lakeside retreats and winter sports opportunities thanks to the rugged terrain that this country has to offer. It is certainly one to think about and should be considered for the future.
The ones to demote
Lastly, let’s look at three specific destinations that are on many people’s bucket list. Sometimes it is worth prioritising other destinations over others, and perhaps it might be time to consider these ones for the future instead of the possibility of right now.
California, USA
So many people have the likes of Los Angeles or San Francisco on their bucket lists and while these locations really do have something to offer, it shouldn’t be the only places that you have desires to see. In the USA especially, there are so many hidden gems aside from the big cities. Texas as a state has much to offer, the Florida Keys and understated states like Vermont. Think outside of the box a little.
Sydney, Australia
It is understandable why Sydney might be on your bucket list, not only for the iconic sights that you can see, but just to get to Australia might be a goal of yours. But in the country of Oz, there are so many other wonderful places. Adelaide and Melbourne, and heading up north to swim in the Great Barrier Reef. Don’t be narrow minded thinking it is all about Sydney.
Bangkok, Thailand
Finally, Bangkok seems to be on the list for many, but has it had its day? Thailand as a country has so much more to offer, including some of the stunning islands that you can spend time enjoying. It might be time to branch out and choose to travel elsewhere.
Let’s hope this has given you some travel inspiration.
Such a good list! I have been to many on the list and live in Canada so I’m glad it’s not on the demote list!!! I do love Bangkok, but I agree that Thailand as a whole is amazing and once you’re there exploring the rest of SE Asia is unbelievable. Still trying to get to Iceland soon. I was in Egypt years ago but sadly didn’t make it to Jordan, so it is high on my list too! Great post and suggestions 🙂
Thank you! These are all amazing places. We will be in Canada next week!
Indonesia is definitely on my list!
Great insight! I haven’t been to Europe yet and I’m dying to go. Switzerland is definitely on the list.

Honestly, I need to visit all of these. My top would be Thailand & Brazil
Yes! I am all about Thailand!
There is so much more to the states than just California. Taking a cruise to Australia and New Zealand is the perfect way to go. Iceland we enjoyed and husband wants to go back.
This is such a great list. No one tells you where NOT to go .. love love.
I agree! Honesty is what we are going for!
The only place on this list that I’ve already been was Brazil. Definitely worth seeing!

What a great list! I am from California and I agree. If you are going to visit Cali, visit the small towns, Lake Tahoe, and the Giant Sequoias on the coast, not the big cities. I am personally looking forward to going to Germany and Switzerland. Most important thing is to keep traveling! 🙂

Great list — I’ve got some work to do, for sure, but I look forward to it!
I agree with bumping up Iceland! That’s on our trip list for in the next couple years.
As for Australia, I highly recommend checking out Brisbane and the Glasshouse Mountains, specifically Mount Ngungun. Also, hopping over to New Zealand for Hobbiton is a great idea! (Check out zorbing, too!)

I love this list so much 🙂 I totally agree, the Florida Keys are unlike any place I’ve ever been. Key West was so much fun when I went several years ago. I would love to visit again
