The world is in a little big of a tizz at the moment. With the pandemic and the constant lockdown worries, people are spending more time at home and less time anywhere else. While we wait for this to pass, we need to fill the time as much as possible, but home can often equal boredom for so many people. Instead of feeling more, you need to figure out which hobbies you can do to protect your mental health and give you something fun to do.
Choosing a hobby isn’t always easy, but who said you had to have just the one? You can fill your time with as many fun activities you want, from critiquing series’ on Netflix while you are blogging, to reading all about Brewing For Beginners: How Long Does It Take To Brew Beer At Home? So you can make your own tipple! Getting through lockdown is so much easier when you have something to occupy your time, and we’ve got a few home hobby suggestions you could really use to change your life!
Gardening
Okay, so not technically indoors, but gardening is an excellent hobby and you don’t have to leave your property! You can get outside and plant new lawns and flowers, and you could even start your own fruit or vegetable garden! Herb gardens are an excellent thing to start in the garden, too, as you can use them in your cooking!
Blogging
We mentioned blogging your reviews of Netflix shows, but you can really get far with writing in the middle of a lockdown situation. You don’t need to be a professional writer to get your opinions on paper. You can start a blog of anything you want and it’ll be a hobby you come back to over and over again, even when lockdowns are done!
Brewing
People who love to cook often love to get creative elsewhere. Brewing alcohol is one thing you can definitely do in lockdown and it doesn’t cost you much to get started! Check out recipes online and the earlier mentioned blog, too!
Painting
Is there anything better than putting brush to canvas and watching something come to life? Take inspiration from the view outside the window, or go online and find a landscape to emulate. You could even just go completely abstract and take the brush and see what comes out! Painting is one of the most relaxing hobbies you will ever have!
Meditation
Lockdown and the current world news can be stressful and feel chaotic. You have to find peace somewhere, and a few moments of quiet reflection can be exactly that. Take a moment to find a good YouTube meditation video and you’ll see what we mean! It can make such a difference to your mental health, too!
Finding a good hobby and you will always have something to occupy your mind at a truly scary time! The pandemic doesn’t have to overtake your mental health – and now you don’t have to let it.
I started growing micro greens in the kitchen during the lockdown. They are colorful and edible, and fast enough growing to keep children engaged.
