Restaurant Review: Is The Blue Box Cafe worth it?

“Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany’s. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that’d make me feel like Tiffany’s, then – then I’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name!” – Holly Golightly

Tiffany & Co. is definitely a place that feels like home to me. When I heard that they were opening up the Blue Box Café on the 4th floor of the New York flagship store I just had to go! It was like all of my dreams were coming true. But that isn’t to say it didn’t take some planning. This quaint and private café accepts reservations 30 days in advance and they fill up quick! More on that later though. I hope that in this post I can answer any questions you many have about grabbing breakfast at Tiffany’s!

Getting a Reservation

I don’t normally put this section on restaurant reviews but this one is a little complex. The process for reserving your spot at the Blue Box Café really starts 31 days in advance. Once you have decided the day you want to go you must be ready to jump on your computer 30 days prior at 9am Eastern Time and pick your time! So why does it really start 31 days prior? Because you have to set up an account! Set up your account the day before and make sure to stay logged in! If you waste time setting up an account the morning of the reservations will book up. There are only so many available reservations per 30 minute window so make sure you know what time you want to go!

I know this sounds crazy but in just the time it took me to log in that morning the 10am time slot I wanted had filled up and the next available wasn’t until 2pm. I of course took the 2pm reservation but wish I had been able to get an earlier time! So this process is probably the most important when planning breakfast/lunch at Tiffany’s.

The Atmosphere

You walk in and you just feel special. The waiters are so kind as they ask for your name. You are literally on a list! I have always wanted to go an event where I can say my name is on the list and they look and then let me into some fancy party. This is probably as close as I am ever going to get lol.

The whole building is Tiffany’s blue and bright. Everyone is dressed fancy (I don’t know if this is coincidence or not) and the décor is high-end but inviting. There are windows all around looking out to the New York skyline. Everything about the experience screams Tiffany & Co and I could not have loved it more.

The Food

You receive a set menu with 3 dining options that change throughout the year. There is a $30, $40, or $50 options. Each comes with a three course meal. Tyrell and I both chose the breakfast which is the $30 option. This was not because of the price but because I wanted a real “Breakfast at Tiffany” experience and Tyrell just loves waffles lol.

The first course was home made croissants with 3 different spreads to choose from. I love croissants and these were delectable! There was a jam, a Nutella spread, and a honey butter. I stuck with the honey butter and tried a bit of the jam and both were delicious. Tyrell enjoyed the jam and the Nutella. The next course was a bowl of fruit. It may sound simple but they choose the best fruits for that season and they were all perfect! It even had figs and kiwis in this bowl which are two of my favorite. The main course was a waffle topped with rhubarb. The waffles were perfectly cooked, fluffy, and the rhubarb was the perfect sweet topping! If I could make that at home every day I would.

And of course, what would breakfast at Tiffany’s be without some tea? I got their herbal blend and enjoyed every last drop. Tyrell got coffee like a man and said it even tasted pretty fancy! Overall, I enjoyed everything that we ordered.

Is It Worth It

Okay, now obviously I am obsessed with Tiffany & Co. I mean I refused to get engaged until Tyrell put a Tiffany’s classic setting engagement ring on my finger. But besides that, I can honestly say that the Blue Box Café is worth it. The food is good, it may not be worth the price you pay but the high price goes towards your experience.

I say this because the type of people that go to the Blue Box Café all want to be there. I mean they made reservations 30 days in advance! The wait staff is incredible and so helpful. They also know how Instagram worthy the Blue Box Café is and they are more than happy to snap the perfect pic of you! At least that is what our awesome waiter told us! J So whether you are as Tiffany obsessed as I am or not, I still think the Blue Box Café is something you should check out. It is only available at that one New York Tiffany location so if you are in the area, don’t miss out!

  1. The sounds like such a special experience! I appreciate all the great tips like making your reservations a month in advance. I would so like to do this the next time I’m in New York City. And those croissants with Nutella spread look scrumptious!

      1. I was just there to celebrate my daughter’s 13th birthday and it was a great experience.
Reservations were a challenge but totally worth it. Love all the decorations and the costumer service. We wrapped it up with a little shopping downstairs. Then a nice walk by Central Park!
