We all know the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In this somewhat strange and creepy dual personality whirlwind of a story we begin to realize not everyone is as they seem. And I don’t know about you but I am drawn to stories like this! Maybe it makes me feel a little more sane some days lol! So when I heard that there was a Jekyll and Hyde themed restaurant in NYC I knew I had to go!
Not only was this a Jekyll and Hyde themed restaurant with mad scientist creations on every wall but it included almost a dinner theater vibe! The whole staff was in character the whole time and the statues on the walls come to life! Every 10 minutes something strange happens in this tavern, and I could not have been more excited to see what would happen next!
The Atmosphere
The building is dark and grungy but it fits the theme of the restaurant perfectly! It instantly feels like the basement of an 1886 gothic novella. It doesn’t take long to realize you’re in a place like nowhere you’ve ever been! Then, the fun really begins. One of the staff members is there strictly for entertainment. He gets the whole restaurant involved in secret (not so secret) handshakes and some friendly games of who gets eaten by a werewolf first!
The entire ambiance from the moment you walk in has the traditional so kind and friendly but can turn to evil and haunting in a moment! And albeit a few murder jokes along the way, this restaurant is perfect for the whole family! There were many children laughing and enjoying the crazy just as much as me. Also, a bachelorette party was going on while we were there and I was so jealous!
The Food
This is a pub so think traditional bar food with a twist. I got a DELICIOUS grilled chicken sandwhich with a garlic aiole. It was the perfect light dinner! Tyrell was starving and he got a full meal with fried chicken and mash potatoes and gravy and steamed veggies and it was the best comfort food you could ask for. This was perfect for a manly man’s meal! And then we finished it off with some New York Cheesecake which was of course delectable! And the cheese cake is the only food I got pics of because I kind of suck haha!
Oh and the cocktails! They had all of these crazy mixed drinks and I wanted to try all of them! Some of the ones I really wanted to try were The Bermuda Triangle, Lucid Dream, and Death By Poison! But we had stuff to do after dinner and these sounded dangerous. But if you have all night I highly recommend giving them all a try!
(Sorry this is the only pic of our food we got! It was just so good! 😉 )
