The Best Adventures for the Slight Thrill Seekers
Adventures really are for everyone! One of my favorite things to do on vacation is some adventurous activity that I probably wouldn’t do at home. However, if you live somewhere that has these activities close by they also double as awesome date ideas! These are some of my favorite adventures that weren’t too extreme but definitely thrilling! We are always looking for new adventures to go on so let me know in the comments if you have a favorite activity to do just for the thrill of it!
1. Deep Sea Fishing
Fishing is usually thought of as a relaxing and peaceful activity to do in your leisure time. But let me tell you that deep sea fishing is so much fun and it is intense! I went in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and we were blown away but how much fun we had!
The thing that’s great about deep sea fishing is that there is usually beer provided on the ship (or the tell you to bring your own) so the first part of the ride is like a boat party with all of your friends. Then once you get out to the deep water and begin fishing things start to get crazy!
These fish that you will be reeling in aren’t little trout in a river, they are massive tuna, swordfish, etc. depending on your location. They are strong and somethings they weight hundreds of pounds! Once you hook your fish the fishermen may have to strap you to a seat on the boat to ensure that the fish doesn’t pull you overboard!
But here’s the great thing about it. Once that fish is reeled in and you have it on the ship you see this huge fish that you just caught and it is so satisfying! And it is the most fun I have ever had fishing. Totally worth it!
If you are ever in an area that has good deep sea fishing, take advantage of it! Book an excursion for you and your friends, just enjoy being out in the ocean working hard for something together! And the best part? On shore they will cut your fish and prepare it for you! You can take it with you or have it frozen and shipped back to your home so you will have fresh fish when you get back!
2. White Water Rafting
This is one that is pretty close to home for me so we try to make a trip up north for rafting every summer! I went for the first time about 5 years ago and I was terrified because I’m not a huge fan of water. But after about 30 minutes on the raft I was having so much fun that I wasn’t even thinking about the water!
White water rafting is the perfect mix of relaxing and thrilling. There are moments when the water calms and your float along seeing the scenery and having fun with your friends. And some rafts have squirt guns so you can have a water fight with the other rafts on the trip!
During long stretches of calm between the rapids you can all get out of the raft and float in the river. It is relaxing and feels so good in the summer! Then once you get close to the rapids you all jump back in the raft and begin to paddle and steer the boat!
Once in the rapids you are being tossed around and water is flying everywhere! Sometimes you feel like you might fall out of the boat (usually you won’t). Then you make it through and the water begins to calm again and you feel like you’ve just conquered the world! It is exhilarating!
Bonus thrill: If you’re brave enough you can “ride the bull” and sit on the front of the raft holding onto a rope during the rapids!
3. Parasailing
Parasailing is a pretty popular vacation activity but the key is to ask around and find a good company to book your excursion through! I’ve been a couple of times and the most fun I’ve ever had was when I was in Hawaii.
The things you need to ask are how many people fly at a time, what does the excursion include, and do they take pictures! The reason I enjoyed our parasailing experience in Hawaii the most was because of what we got to do while in the air and what was provided with our package.
We loved that this sail could hold three people, partly because there were three of us but also it is a lot more fun to go with more people because you can talk about everything you’re seeing! The ones with three also seem to be more stable when coming back onto the boat which is comforting.
The other thing I loved about our ride was that they didn’t just fly us through the air and bring us back in. We actually got to dip down into the water twice while we were flying! We would slowly go down and spend a few seconds splashing our feet into the water. Then they would adjust the sail and we would soar back up into the sky! It was a blast!
Then while we were in the sky they had an awesome camera to take pictures of us flying that turned out really well! With our package two prints were included and we could purchase more or a disk for an additional price. This was a really cool feature because it’s hard to find a trip that includes pictures! Pics or it didn’t happen, right?!
4. Indoor Sky Diving
This one was not something I would have thought about before we did it. It was actually a date I took my boyfriend on for his birthday when we were in college! But it was an amazing experience and definitely something that neither of us have forgotten.

We booked our flight through iFly Utah and it was only about 30 minutes away from where we lived. It also included an indoor rock climbing session and indoor surfing which was super fun too! But of course the best part was the skydiving it self.
After some safety instructions you get into the wind tunnel! You start by holding the instructors hands and then they turn on the wind. Once the wind begins to blow you lift up your feet and keep your body in the “diving position.” And then you just enjoy the experience! The best part is finding out all the things you can do if you get good enough!
I think things like skydiving, outside or inside, let people experience life together in a whole new way! It is unlike anything else you’re ever going to do and so worth it. If you live near an indoor wind tunnel or visit somewhere that has one I 100% recommend this activity!
5. Zip Lining
Okay so this one was absolutely one of my favorite things I have ever done. We went through the rain forest of Costa Rica but we are hoping to go over the Red Rocks in Utah the next time we go! It doesn’t matter what scenery and terrain you’re going through, zip lining is an experience unlike anything else!
On our tour we did 12 cables. Each cable varies in length but they take about a minute to get from beginning to end. Since each tour has about 20 people, there are large platforms in the trees at the end of each cable where you will wait for everyone before starting the next.
The instructors stay two in the front and one in the back of the line up to make sure everyone is getting on each line safely! So there is really no need to worry about anything because they guide you through everything.
On one of our longer lines they instruct you to let go and flip upside down! You only have to do this if you want to but this is where they snap your picture so you can tell everyone you hung upside down on a zip line 😉 . The last line we went on was the longest and the fastest. And it definitely got your adrenaline pumping right before they send you on your way back home!
Great post and listed tips are wonderfully described.
Deep sea game fish, like marlin and tuna, can be very large and heavy tackle is needed. But the adrenaline you get while hunting these monsters is just amazing. 🙂
Absolutely! We had the best time ever!
