Tips for Taking Your Toddler to Disneyland

Tips for Taking Your Toddler to Disneyland

Thinking about a Family Vacation to Disneyland? There are a few things to think about before you go! Check out my list of Tip for Taking your toddler to Disneyland.

Pack Snacks and Drinks

Snack and drinks can add up over the day, and meals can get pricey for a family.  We made peanut butter sandwiches and brought chips for lunch, and made sure our hotel had a free breakfast. This made it so we only had to buy one meal a day!

For snacks we brought plenty of granola bars, fruit snacks, jerky and nuts! Make sure to take tons of water!!! We brought water, gatorade and juice boxes for our son. Disney will let you bring in any food and water as long as its not in a glass container!

Bring a Stroller

We clocked in about 27,000 steps in one day at Disneyland! If you have a toddler this is a must. You can also rent one for 20 dollars a day right by the entrance to Disneyland park. Not only is there a lot of walking, but a place to keep extra clothes, jackets, souvenirs and your bag is awesome! While you go on rides there is stroller parking. I must admit I was scared to leave my stuff unattended, but nothing happened! My stroller and belongings were safe every time.

Have a Plan

There will be a lot go walking back and forth if you don’t have a plan! If you have a hopper pass figure out how much time you want to spend in each park and a list of your top rides you want to ride. walking all over the park will waste so much of your time,

Disneyland App

Thank god for technology! you can keep all your fast passes on your phone! The best part of this app is definitely the map! The map shows the wait times for all the rides, so you don’t have to walk across the park to figure out you don’t want to wait. There is also a character map as well! Look up the times an locations your toddler’s favorites are at! Don’t forget to grab an autograph book!

Child Swap

This one is very important! If there is a ride you want to ride that your child is to small for, there is an amazing thing called child swap! Let the cast member at the entrance know you want to do this and you will receive a fast pass for the one or group riding second. The first group/ person will wait in line then when they are done the second group/person gets to go through the fast pass line. This way someone gets to stay with the child the whole time! We utilized this during nap time and when there was a nearby ride or character he would like!

Free Until Three Years Old

I don’t think I need to say much to explain how great this is! Your child is free until 3 and that will save you a big chunk of vacation dollars!

I hope your family has a magical vacation to Disneyland like we did! What was your toddlers favorite ride at Disney? My son loved the rollercoaster in ToonTown!

  1. Child swap was the BEST! We had a toddler when we went to Disneyworld last year and that combined with planning exactly what we wanted to do (oh and going off-season!) were my top things that helped us!

  2. I love the concept of Child Swap, but had never heard of it. When my son was 6 we went to Disneyland. He is autistic and was terrified of most of the rides so it precluded on of us from going on the ride. This would have been perfect! Thanks for sharing!

  3. These are great tips! Did you have a chance to check out the baby care center? They have tiny potties which are great for little kids who get scared of the big toilets.
