With things opening back up we are left wondering if we should start traveling again? When will it be safe? and at the same time there are also amazing travel deals tempting us to travel.
With the Covid-19 pandemic, travel as we know it has changed. Also emotions around traveling have changed. Here is a list of things to be prepared for while traveling during the pandemic
Get a mask!
Most states require masks in some capacity or chain stores do, even Starbucks. Get a cute reusable mask, find a friend to make you some. Most every store sells masks now, I even saw them at 7/11. Plus all airlines are requiring them in flight if you are flying.
Look into requirements of where you are going
Each state has different requirements for entry and mask wearing. For example Oregon where I live, you have to where a mask all the time indoors and outdoors when six feet of distance cannot be maintained. Hawaii for example has a 14 day mandatory quarantine in effect for visitors, and starting September 1st they will let you skip that if you show a negative Covid-19 test within 72 hours of arriving. Leaving the country right now is even harder with many countries closing their borders to US citizens. The bans are constantly changing so be sure to keep checking as your trip get closer!
Pre-plan and have back up plans
Some attractions are open and some are not. Most are limiting hours, same with restaurants. Always have plans for your trip and have a back up. Like stated above these rules and regulations are constantly changing. National parks have been opening and closing, state parks, beaches and activities in cities. I’m still crying on the inside about Disney being closed anyone else?
Be prepared for backlash
I don’t think anyone knows what to do or how to feel during these weird times. My grandma is almost 90 years old and has never lived through something as crazy as this. However if you choose to travel right now be prepared to hear it from at least one friend or family member. I have been criticized by friends, family, coworkers and clients for traveling. Be prepared to hear it, and agree to disagree!
If you choose to travel during these time choose the travel that is right for you. Maybe its the time for an old-fashioned road trip, or the camping trip you always say you’ll go on but never do. Whatever you pick make a plan, grab a mask and be prepared to hear it from someone you know! Tell me all about your Covid travels in the comments below!
