You guys, if any of you have planned or are planning a wedding in the year 2019, how did you choose an app?!?! People kept telling me to use a wedding planning app to make life easier but they forgot to mention that there are 8 million to choose from. Like, seriously, it was overwhelming. To be honest, I looked at them and then shut off my phone and decided I’d deal with it later lol.
Finally, after some Google searches and asking around, I downloaded 6 recommended wedding apps. I then played with each of them for a day to see which setup I liked best. I am definitely not here to tell you what app is best to use. However, I thought it would be helpful to provide a little information about the apps that I tried and why I choose the one that I did!
The Knot
I would venture to say that The Knot is one of the most well known wedding sites in 2019. They even have a subscription box which is AMAZING! The app for The Know has a ton of features and even recommends businesses in the city of your wedding!
Features: Vendor recommendations, planning checklist, budget, schedule, registry, guest list, and your own wedding website
Loves: What I love about this app is all of the suggestions! Not only do they offer suggestions for vendors but they have quizzes to take to figure out your style or color palette. Also, the guest list includes RSVPs and tracks people’s responses.
Dislikes: The format they use for the guest list is NOT compatible with all printers if you want to print and mail out your invites. These work great for e-invites but not traditional ones.
Lady Marry
Features: Planning checklist, budget, guest list, countdown, collaborations, and helpful articles.
Loves: The articles that Lady Marry provides are amazing! I learned so much from them. The guest list also is pretty complete as far as information you can enter which is helpful when ordering invites. Being able to so easily invite collaborators is also a huge benefit! Also, you know your girl loves a good countdown clock!!
Dislikes: The recommendations are hard to find and take a while to load. A Google search is easier than going through the app. Also, there is no website to publish meaning that you’d have to go to a third party if that is something you want.
Wedding Wire
Features: Vendor suggestions, planning checklist, budget, guest list, inspiration, Guest app, interactive forum, and your own website!
Love: I love the inspiration tab on the app. It has articles and pictures galore! Along with that is the interactive forum where you can chat with other brides in real time. Also the app for guests is awesome! Guests can post pics and write notes and stay up to date on your schedule!
Dislike: There isn’t as much organization on this app as others. The guest list is one long list with category selection on each name rather than broken down into smaller groups and the checklist is more general and doesn’t give you strict deadlines.
Zola
Features: Interactive set up, registry, editable wedding planning checklist, religious traditions included, countdown, schedule of events, guest list, and your own website!
Love: Okay I love the aspect of adding in religious traditions because as a Greek Orthodox there are a million things that none of the other wedding checklists includes. (yay!) The editable checklist overall is the best part of this app. You can also invite your partner to help out!
Dislikes: There is A LOT of stuff going on on this app. The customization and interactivity is great most of the time but does take some extra time. It also focuses a lot on the registry which is something we aren’t even having so there was a lot of useless info.
WedHappy
Features: Vendor suggestions, checklist, invite a whole team of people, export data in PDF for (premium only), and payment tracking!
Loves: The payment tracking is easily the best part. This is an awesome feature that is slightly different than just setting a budget. I also love the vendor suggestion and they way in which it is organized.
Dislikes: In order to get all of the features you have to purchase the premium version. The price on this is $6.99 to add one person for $20.99 to add 5 people.
Which App Did I Choose?
Funny story, I am using two apps! There ended up not being one app that included every single thing I wanted so I am using both Zola and Wedding Wire! I am using Zola for the checklist which includes the Greek Orthodox traditions. And seriously, it is hands down the best thing ever. I grew up in the church but do you think I remember every stinking tradition out of hundreds?! NO!! This app has been a lifesaver. I also chose Wedding Wire because it hands down as the best vendor search. It also has the guest app which is amazing!
Between these two apps I am well on my to planning this wedding! Also, I totally signed up for The Knot subscription box so technically I am using 3 of these apps I guess? Oops! I guess my point is that you gotta do what you gotta do ladies! Cheers and may the budget be ever in your favor.

Wow, I didn’t even know about wedding apps! When I got married, I had a notebook with everything in it. These would have been way easier and less stressful or sure. Thanks for sharing!

It’s been almost 15 years since we got married and they didn’t have apps like this back then.

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! The wedding apps would have been so useful when I decided to tie the knot in 2013 . . . but alas, I eloped.
